Sloe Gin fizz cocktail recipe
Ripe sloes are wild fruits that are picked up from blackthorn bushes after the frist frost of winter. These can be usually found in the countryside like mainland United Kingdom but it canbe a challenge to find a bush as these grow sparse allover. One picked up, sloes are placed into a jar and for each 1 pint of sloes, 4 ounces of sugar is added. The jar is filled up with gin, sealed and stored in a cool dark place. In time, the sloes turn into deep ruby red and the gin would have acquired the perfect flavour. This gin is then used in many cocktail recipes and drinks, like the one below.
Ingredients:
2 oz Sloe Gin 1/2 oz Dry Vermouth
Dash of Angostura Bitters
Mixing method:
Stir all ingredients with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Naturally an orange wedge goes perfectly with this cocktail.
